Fourth day – our ship docks in a small bay and I wake up to the smell of coffee. The view from the corner of the ship is breathtaking: the water is as smooth as glass and the green surroundings are very beautiful. According to my research, there is a very special paddling area here, which I discovered with Jean half a year ago.
We spend three days here and explore the area, do a trakking tour and if you are brave enough, you can spend the night in the jungle. After a small paddling session, yoga on the ship and a hearty breakfast, we are ready for paddling. We are equipped with waterproof dry bags, drinks and some food. Our group leaves and I share a typical wooden paddle boat with Dusti.
The weather is not ideal: the sky is overcast and it is very humid. After about a kilometer it suddenly rains, but we are prepared and have our rain jackets with us. After half an hour, the rain stops and the sun comes out. We penetrate further and further into the river arm, past huge old trees and shrubs that protrude from the water.
We finally reach the place that Jean recommended for the overnight stay in the jungle. We get off our boards and enter the jungle. We find a perfect place for our camp and get ready for the night.
Overall, it was an exciting day, although the weather was not optimal. The paddling trip was unforgettable and the scenery was breathtaking. We are all looking forward to the coming days and what awaits us here in the Amazon.
