Day 5: Free time, hammocks in the jungle and deep connection with nature

Tag 5: Freizeit, Hängematten im Urwald und tiefe Verbundenheit mit der Natur

Day five of our trip began with a relaxed morning. With no tour or excursion planned, each of us could do whatever we wanted. Some of us were a bit lazy, but we all knew that we definitely still wanted to go on a trekking tour and spend the night in the jungle.

Already on the first day, I had asked everyone if they could imagine sleeping in a hammock in the jungle. Opinions were divided: Half were unsure, the other half could imagine it but were not entirely convinced. But in the last few days, our team had grown even closer, and we had gained confidence in our crew and our guide. We agreed that it would be a great experience to wake up in a hammock in the morning and experience the jungle – bird calls and sounds in the trees included.

Each of us had grown beyond ourselves and gained courage and self-confidence. I personally had realized here in the jungle how simple and beautiful life can be. I looked forward to spending even more time exploring nature in the future. We only entered the jungle with the permission of the indigenous people, as it was their millennia-old habitat.

To view the island's diversity from above, I flew my drone over 300 meters high. We agreed that it was important to be mindful of our environment, so we used paddleboards or boats to leave no footprint.

The rest of the day was uneventful, but our cook had surprised us with two delicious cakes: banana and passion fruit cake. At sunset, we sat together and philosophized about life. It was a quiet day, but we knew that the next adventure was already waiting for us.
