Day 4: Adventure in the jungle – paddling, trekking and overnight stay in the jungle
Day four - our ship docks in a small bay and I wake up to the scent of coffee. The view from the corner of the ship is breathtaking: the water is mirror-smooth, and the green surroundings are beautiful. According to my research, there's a very special paddling area here that Jean and I discovered six months ago.
We'll spend three days here exploring the area, taking a trekking tour, and for those brave enough, spending a night in the jungle. After a short paddling session, yoga on the ship, and a hearty breakfast, we're ready to paddle. We're equipped with waterproof dry bags, drinks, and some food. Our group sets off, and I share a typical wooden paddle boat with Dusti.
The weather isn't ideal: the sky is overcast, and it's very humid. After about a kilometer, it suddenly starts to rain, but we're prepared with our rain jackets. After half an hour, the rain stops, and the sun comes out. We continue deeper into the river arm, past huge old trees and shrubs protruding from the water.
We finally reach the spot Jean recommended for an overnight stay in the jungle. We get off our boards and enter the primeval forest. We find a perfect spot for our camp and prepare for the night.
Overall, it was an exciting day, even though the weather wasn't ideal. The paddling tour was unforgettable, and the landscape was breathtaking. We're all looking forward to the coming days and what awaits us here in the Amazon.
